See Back to Galilee (2012)
Jesus of Nazareth
Jesus, son of Mary and Joseph, born in Bethlehem of Judea, grew up in Nazareth of Galilee, a Jewish territory governed by Rome, not entirely a happy place. Jews of Galilee were regarded by the Romans as somewhat seditious and having a low flash point. These Jews were filled with popular longings and aspirations. Moderate Pharisees controlled the synagogues; experts in the Scripture, the Scribes, supported the Pharisees; the temple, center of their religion and located in Jerusalem, was controlled by the Sadducees, the high priest and Sanhedrin, these leaders often pandering to the Romans. But still, good Jewish Galileans looked south to Jerusalem and its temple, Godís presence on earth, and made pilgrimages to it.
